SRRC's very own Tim Butler received the 2007 Rod Steele Outstanding Volunteer Award at the National RRCA convention in Cincinnati on May 6. This award is given nationally to a representative of a member club who has given more than anyone else to promote running through their time, talents and ideas.
Most club members know who Tim is and many know of the good things he has done to promote our sport and our community but far fewer realize the full range of things he has done for us. Tim is always quick to say that he is just one member of a great community that has made thing happen. He would have us think what he has done is no big deal. We hope you agree that the multiple ideas he has pushed forward are well worthy of this high recognition.
About the Rod Steele Outstanding Volunteer Award - Rod Steele was a DC Road Runner Club President in 1974 until a plane crash took his life. This award is in memory of his contribution to the sport of running and as a volunteer and supporter of the RRCA. This award is given to recognize the outstanding volunteer (excluding the president) of a local club or event. | Volunteers Needed - Calling All Men...and Women! |

They are using the theme “Curb Your Car on Bike to Work Day” and will encourage people to bike, walk, run or ride the bus to work. This way even people who cannot ride a bike to work will be able to participate which will give the event more visibility, having fewer cars on the streets makes them safer for biking, and getting people out of their cars has such a positive impact on personal health, fi nances, and the environment.
